Blue tape has been given a water treatment to fluff up the surface, making it appropriate for cleaning 2.5 mm ferrules in a Type A (14100500 or 14100510) CLETOP cassette.

White tape has not been water-treated, and hence has no fluffed-up fibers on the surface. This tape is particularly-suited for cleaning 1.25 mm ferrules and multi-fiber ferrules (e.g. MPO female) in a Type B (14100600 or 14100610) cassette. Also used for MTRJ male connectors (14100101 cassette) and MPO/MTP male connectors (14100201 cassette).
